Monomers combine together to form polymers. Monomers are the repeating units of small molecules which link together to form polymers and the process is called as polymerization.

Necking is formed when piece of plastic bag is stretched. During stretching the dispersion force arise in the polymer since each atom in the chain contains electrons with it and these electrons are attracted to neighboring atoms.

As the plastic bag is stretched the length increase and the width decreases creating a small shoulder at wider part and narrow neck which is called necking.
