Introduction:

The molecule, acetyl-Coenzyme A is central to carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism. Acetyl Coenzyme A is utilized in the citric acid cycle (CAC cycle), also known as the Krebs cycle. The energy carriers released from the TCA cycle are used to produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate), or energy molecules. The cyclic process regenerates acetyl CoA molecules.
