Summary Introduction

Introduction:

If two mutations arise autonomously and produce alike phenotype or trait, to test whether they are both mutations of the same gene or different genes, a complementation test is carried out.

The complementation test determines whether two mutations that yield similar phenotype are in the same gene i.e. whether they are alleles demonstrating mutations in separate genes, whose proteins are involved in the same function.
