Orange Julias. Pictured here are some Julia Sets surrounded by contour drawings. Each contour line is numbered. The number represents how many iterations of the process of squaring and adding $a+bi$ are required before a point on that line is of distance 2 or more from the origin. Color the regions between the contour lines different colors to show how many iterations are required to have the various points outside the Julia Set exceed distance 2 from the origin. Choose your colors to create the most attractive image. Recall that the University of Texas at Austin’s color is burnt orange and the Williams College color is purple, so use burnt orange and purple prominently.
