For generation of current in a wire by induction due to a nearby magnet, the magnetic field of the magnet should change. It is the change in the magnetic field of the magnet that induces current in the wire. The change in magnetic field generates voltage difference in the wire due to which current flow through it.
Therefore, if the magnet induces no current in the wire, then its magnetic field is not changing.
