To explain:The manner in which a compass needle moves when it is placed in a magnetic field.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
A space around a magnet where it can attract other magnets or magnetic materials is called a magnetic field.
A compass needle is made from a magnet. When it is placed in a magnetic field, the compass needle starts to spin. Since the magnetic field exerts a force on the compass needle, the needle spins until it points in the direction of the magnetic field.
Conclusion:
A compass needle moves in the direction of the magnetic field.
