The Costplus Corporation has set a processing quota of 80 insurance claims per 8-hour day. The claims process consists of five elements, which are detailed in the following table. Costplus has decided to use an assembly-line arrangement to process the forms and would like to make sure they have set up the line in the most efficient fashion. Construct a precedence diagram for the claims process and calculate the cycle time required to meet the processing quota. Balance the assembly line and show your arrangement of workstations. Calculate the line’s efficiency. How many claims can actually be processed on your line?

- Complaints have come to the department manager regarding timeliness of requests for patient information and a decision must be made. Three months ago, Community Hospital opened a 24-hour urgent-care center 10 miles away in a rapidly growing community. Kent Jones, the health information services manager, took part in the planning that included the use of a combined record and one patient identification number. The decision was made to allow electronic sharing of patient records between the facilities; however, at present it is necessary to fax some portions of the record upon request. In the past month, Kent has received four complaints from the urgent care center that records were not faxed in a timely manner. There are 26 employees in health information services. Three full-time employees care for record activity during the day, with one employee devoted to record activity during the evening shift, when a team leader and four other employees are usually in the department. What steps can you extract from this process? Classify these steps into VA, BVA and NVA. When a claim is received, a junior claims officer first enters the claim details into the insurance information system and performs a basic check. Next, the claim is moved to a senior claims officer who performs an in-depth assessment of the reported disability and estimates the monthly benefit entitlement (i.e. how much monthly compensation is the claimant entitled to, and for what period of time). In the case of short-term disability benefits, the senior claims handler can perform the benefit assessment without requiring further documentation and notifies the customer of the outcome via e-mail or postal mail. In the case of long-term disability claims (more than three months), the senior claims handler requires a full medical report in order to assess the…arrow_forward
- What are the similarities between the CPFR and S&OP processes? What are the differences?arrow_forwardTheories and concepts: Cause of the difficulties In this section, I will explain the causes of the difficulties which I have explained above. The reason for the missing cages uses to be that the cage is still being picked or not and if the picker is still using the cage to pick the items then request the picker to drop the cage off to the packing department so that the items can be packed and sent out the shipping department for the delivery. Also, if the cage is not in the picking department buffer or pack buffer and is not being picked then as a process guide it was my duty to search for the cage at the packing stations first, and if not found then to escalate to the management so that relevant department can be contacted for the action. During the critical pool time, there were a few shipments IDs use to get sent down from the picking department which they couldn’t send into the picker’s scanners as either the batch assigned for the item by the stowing department would be wrong or…arrow_forwardCreat a swimlane diagram showing an online shopping process on an online retail store.arrow_forward
