Based on the microbe’s preferred ranges of temperature in which their growth is best supported, microbes are of four types: psychrophiles, mesophiles, thermophiles, and hyperthermophiles. Other types of microbes like barophiles, acidophiles, neutrophils, alkaliphiles, and halophiles are found based on different characters of their environment.
