Concept introduction:
Polyprotic acid are chemical compounds that can release two or more acid protons. If two or three protons are lost, they are called di and triprotic acid respectively. Baking soda is an example of acid anionic compound (HCO3-). Most of the chemical compounds exist as a polyatomic ion and the ratio of positive to negative ions present in the substance is expressed as formula of ionic compound. The formula of a chemical compound is given by the lowest whole number ratio of ions in the compound and it is called as a formula unit.
