Theoretically, a weight gain of 18.2 kg in twin pregnancy requires an intake of 35,000 calories more in pregnancy averaging to 150 calories per day. Besides these, specific nutrients such as iron and calcium and essential fatty acids have an increased requirement during pregnancy.
