Question
Chapter 4.6, Problem 1PPB
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The reaction is to be predicted, and the net ionic equation for the reaction is to be written. The element which is oxidized and which is reduced is to be determined.
Concept Introduction:
The activity series is used to predict whether or not a metal will be oxidized during a chemical interaction with a solution containing a particular salt or an acid.
In activity series, the metals are arranged from top to bottom, in the order of decreasing ease of oxidation.
The metals at the top of the series are active metals. They are very reactive.
The metals at the bottom of the series are not very reactive.
