Introduction:

Body segmentation is the characteristic feature of animals belonging to phylum arthropods, annelids, and chordata. The body consists of several repeating units or segments from which, different body parts arises such as a pair of ribs, set of nerves, and the pair of lungs. In vertebrates, these segments are referred to as the somites, which gets arranged on both the sides of the notochord in the developing embryo.
