Concept introduction: The basic structural unit in which the DNA is packaged, with the histone proteins like a woolen thread wrapped around a spool is called as the nucleosome. Each nucleosome has 145 base pairs of left handed super helix DNA. The nucleosome is further condensed to form the chromosome which is visible during cell division.
