Introduction:
The specialized cells of the different connective tissues generate the extracellular matrix. The name of the cell identifies the cell functions by means of one of the following suffixes: -blasts, -cyte, or -clasts. Blasts generate the matrix, maintain it by the cytes and break it down by clasts for remodeling.
