Introduction:

The response of a plant toward the gravitational pull is called geotropism or gravitropism. Roots of plants respond positively toward the stimulus of gravitational pull. This means that the cells of the roots move toward the direction of gravity. The shoots of the plant, on the other hand, respond negatively to this stimulus. This means that the cells move in the opposite direction of gravity.
