Auxin is a phytohormone that is responsible for stimulating growth of plants by stimulating cell division and elongation. This plant hormone, in its synthetic form, is also used as a weedicide. It is known for growing the plant to its death. The synthetic form 2,4-D is responsible for killing broadleaf weeds in a cereal crop field.
