Oxidation is a process through which removal electrons are removed from a substance, whereas, the reduction is the process in which electrons are added to a substance. In microbiology, the combination of these process is termed as redox (oxidation-reduction) process. The differences in the redox reaction can be identified by comparing the standard reduction potential (E0).
