To determine:
Why nitroglycerin is prescribed for heart disease patient as in body it is converted into nitric oxide and why nitroglycerin increases blood flow rate and relieves chest pain.
Introduction:
Blood pressure is defined as the pressure of circulating blood in blood vessels. Contraction and relaxation of heart result in the maintenance of the blood pressure. As when heart contract the blood is flow into blood vessels and when it is relaxed blood comes back into the heart. It is measured as systolic over systolic pressure Systolic pressure means maximum pressure between one heart beat diastolic pressure means minimum pressure between two heart beats. It is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg). When it is low is called hypotension while when it is high is called hypertension.

- how does high pressure O2 treat CO poisoning?arrow_forwardHow long can you go? You may have heard the exploits of free divers, who dive to tremendous depths without any aid of scuba equipment. The world record for assisted free diving is held by Pipin Ferreras, who dove 170 m (558 ft) with the aid of a sled. Free diving is not without its dangers. Pipin’s wife Audrey died during a world record attempt. Free diving is facilitated by the dive reflex, which allows mammals to hold their breath for long periods of time underwater. Immersing one’s face in cold water includes bradycardia and diverts blood away from the periphery. How would these modifications increase the ability to free dive?arrow_forward22:39 a Tido & Nido 45 minutes ago 4 42% 2 S yable for another person, e.g. being driven in a very fast car. wing questions with your class. why is the short-term secretion of adrenaline important for athletes running in a one hundred-metre race? what ifestyles do you think are associated with stress? When an insect larva moults, it can either become a larger, new larva or it can turn into a pupa. This process is controlled by hormones, one of which is called juvenile hormone or JH. High levels of JH cause the larva to become an even bigger larva…arrow_forward

Carbonic anhydrase of erythrocytes (M, 30,000) has one of the highest turnover numbers known. It catalyzes the reversible hydration of CO₂. H₂O + CO₂ H₂CO3 This is an important process in the transport of CO₂ from the tissues to the lungs. If 3 µg of pure carbonic anhydrase catalyzes the hydration of 0.10 g of CO₂ in 1 min at 37 °C at Vmax, what is the turnover number (kcat) of carbonic anhydrase?
