To determine:
Why nitroglycerin is prescribed for heart disease patient as in body it is converted into nitric oxide and why nitroglycerin increases blood flow rate and relieves chest pain.
Introduction:
Blood pressure is defined as the pressure of circulating blood in blood vessels. Contraction and relaxation of heart result in the maintenance of the blood pressure. As when heart contract the blood is flow into blood vessels and when it is relaxed blood comes back into the heart. It is measured as systolic over systolic pressure Systolic pressure means maximum pressure between one heart beat diastolic pressure means minimum pressure between two heart beats. It is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg). When it is low is called hypotension while when it is high is called hypertension.

- Plz do Asap...!arrow_forwardHow long can you go? You may have heard the exploits of free divers, who dive to tremendous depths without any aid of scuba equipment. The world record for assisted free diving is held by Pipin Ferreras, who dove 170 m (558 ft) with the aid of a sled. Free diving is not without its dangers. Pipin’s wife Audrey died during a world record attempt. Free diving is facilitated by the dive reflex, which allows mammals to hold their breath for long periods of time underwater. Immersing one’s face in cold water includes bradycardia and diverts blood away from the periphery. How would these modifications increase the ability to free dive?arrow_forwardBiomedical Engineering- Bridging Medicine and Technology -- W. Mark Saltzman 2009 In Section 9.2, the text discusses the zero-order kinetics of alcohol disappearance from the blood. a. Using the approach outlined in section 7.2.2 (Tracer balance in the body), find an equation describing the concentration of alcohol in the plasma versus time, given that the initial concentration in the plasma (at time=0) is 10 mM.(Refer to Figure 9.5, the half-life of alcohol in plasma is 150 min) b. Graph the results of (a). c. Over what time interval is the expression that you derived in (a) valid? Why is it not valid for all time?arrow_forward
- Contractile force generated by cardiac myocytes is regulated by input from the autonomic nervous system. a) Describe the relative importance of the Parasympathetic and Sympathetic branches of the ANS. b) Force modulation and regulation of the rate of relaxation is accomplished by phosphorylation of 4 key proteins. Describe the steps leading to phosphorylation of these proteins. Name each of these proteins and describe the effects their phosphorylation has on cardiac function.arrow_forwardPlz help for my answer.arrow_forwardPlease ASAP. Thank you.
