Concept explainers
What is the relationship between the amount of work you do on an object and its potential energy?
To explain: The relationship between the amounts of work you do on an object and its potential energy
Explanation of Solution
In a conservative force field the work done on an object is directly proportional to the potential energy. A positive work done on an object in a conservative force field is stored and increases its potential energy.
But if when the force act on the object is non conservative, then the work on the object would not affect its potential energy.
