Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark
To determine

The correct option for the statement “Air motion is greatly influenced by”.

Answer to Problem 4RAT

The correct option for the statement “Air motion is greatly influenced by” is option (d).

Explanation of Solution

When the air gets warm, it rises above from the ground, and the cold air takes the vacant place. Such type of motion of the air produces a convection cycle and provides thermal circulation to the atmosphere. The continuous circulation of the convection current, stir the atmosphere and this results in the circulation of air known as wind.

Air moves when the pressure difference occurs between the two positions. The difference in air pressure is due to the difference in temperature of that place. The difference in the pressure of the places is termed as pressure gradients, and the force is known as pressure gradient force.

The movement of air gets affected by the Earth's rotation and the deflection due to the rotation of the Earth is called the Coriolis force.

Conclusion:

Therefore, the correct option for the statement “When compared to lands far from the oceans, lands that border the oceans tend to have” is option (d).
