Three ways compositional data that may be given in a problem to find an empirical formula are to be listed.
Concept introduction:
Atoms of different elements combined in a definite proportion by mass to form a certain compound. The ratio of atoms of each element is shown by the chemical formulas. The chemical formula of a molecule can be represented either in the form of empirical formula or in the form of a molecular formula.
An empirical formula gives the simplest whole number ratio of atoms of each element present in a compound.
