Chapter 29, Problem 5PL
Summary Introduction

Introduction: The stretch reflex is a muscle contraction which occurs in response to the stretching in the muscle. The muscle spindle is stretched when the muscle lengthens and its nerve activity also increases. This raises the alpha motor neuron activity. It causes the contraction of the muscle fibers and as a result resists the stretching.
