Introduction:

Urine is the fluid that remains in the collecting duct after tubular reabsorption and secretion have occurred. The kidneys can produce urine with a concentration of about 1200 mOsm (milliosmoles). It contains water; ions such as calcium, sodium, chloride; phosphates; sulfates; and metabolic wastes such as urea, creatinine, and ammonia in a healthy individual.
