Interpretation:

The following statements are to be matched with their respective terms, transamination or deamination.

a. An amino group is removed from an amino acid and donated to a keto acid.

b. An ammonium ion is produced.

c. New amino acids are synthesized from other amino acids.

d. A keto acid is produced from an amino acid.

Concept introduction:

The chemical compounds in which carbon is bonded with acidic and basic group along with hydrocarbon side chain are known as amino acids. The amine group and keto group of amino acid and keto acid, respectively, exchange their positions in a chemical reaction. The products obtained from this reaction are new keto acid and amino acid. This reaction is known as Transamination reaction.
