Mass spectrometry is an analytical tool that determines the mass to charge ratio of molecular ion. When solid, liquid, and gaseous substances are bombarded with high energy electrons, they ionize and meanwhile fragmented. The detector detects the charge to mass ratio of the ion and produces spectrum according to their abundance.
