Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Platelets are small fragments of cells surrounded by the plasma membrane. These are not true cells as they lack nuclei. Platelets have multiple types of granules and enzymes, a small number of mitochondria, and glycogen. These also have cytoskeletal components comprising a system of microtubules that are associated with actin and myosin filaments. They are required for the clotting of blood during injury.
