The blood cell formation in the bone marrow takes place from the progenitor cells. The maturation of the blood cells occurs in the bone marrow as well as the thymus but, the production of the blood cells occurs only within the bone marrow. The immature blood cells undergo maturation in the reticular connective tissue within the bone marrow.
