The production of blood cells in the human body takes place in the red bone marrow through the process of hematopoiesis. All of the blood cells arise from the hematopoietic stem cells. There are three classes of blood cells in the human body, namely erythrocytes, leukocytes, and thrombocytes. Thrombocytes are also known as blood platelets.
