Various tissues of the body need proper supply of oxygen which is accomplished by the fluid connective tissue termed as blood. A special protein called hemoglobin in the blood serves as the carrier of oxygen and transports oxygen from the heart to various tissues of the body. The oxygenated blood flows through blood vessels called arteries.
