Chapter 18, Problem 6RA
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The conditions stimulating the secretion of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and pepsinogen during the gastric phase.
Introduction:
Stomach is a part of the alimentary canal. Stomach is a unique organ as it secretes and stores HCl inside the body. The presence of HCl provides protein digesting enzyme an optimum medium for their action. Gastric glands present on the walls of the stomach secrete HCl. The parietal cells are responsible for the secretion of hydrochloric acid.
