The Eco-Marathon is an annual competition sponsored by Shell Oil, in which participants build special vehicles to achieve the highest possible fuel efficiency. The Eco-Marathon is held around the world with events in the United Kingdom. Finland, France. Holland, Japan, and the United States.
A world record was set in the Eco-Marathon by a French team in 2003 called Microjoule with a performance of 10,705 miles per gallon. The Microjoule runs on ethanol, which has a specific gravity of 0.789. Write a MATLAB program to determine how far the Microjoule will travel in kilometers given a user-specified amount of ethanol, provided in units of grams. Your program should ask for the mass using an input statement and display the distance in a formatted sentence similar to the output shown below.
Sample Input/Output
Enter mass of ethanol [grams]: 100
The distance the Microjoule traveled is 577 kilometers.

The drag force acting on a car is determined experimentally by placing the car in a wind tunnel. The air speed inside the tunnel is changed, and the drag force acting on the car is measured. For a given car, the experimental data generally is represented by a single coefficient that is called drag coefficient. It is defined by the following relationship: F, where air resistance for a car that has a listed C, = drag coefficient (unitless) measured drag force (N) drag coefficient of 0.4 and width of 190 cm and height of 145 cm. Spindle power at this rotation rate is 123 kW, volumetric efficiency is 95% and air-fuel rate is 15. The number of rotations of this engine is calculated by subtracting 1.5 from the number of rotations giving the minimum specific fuel consumption. time, spindle power 162 kW, specific fuel consumption 0.394 kg/kW-h and volumetric efficiency 85%. a) Calculate the air-fuel ratio in this case. and By what percent has the efficiency of the engine changed?arrow_forwardHelparrow_forwardPlease show everything step by step in simplest form. You are launching water balloons at a rival team using a large slingshot. The other team is set up on the opposite side of a flat-topped building that is 30.0 ft tall and 50.0 ft wide. Your reconnaissance team has reported that the opposition is set up 10.0 m from the wall of the building. Your balloon launcher is calibrated for launch speeds that can reach as high as 90 mph at angles between 0 and 85.0° from the horizontal. Since a direct shot is not possible (the opposing team is on the opposite side of the building), you plan to splash the other team by making a balloon explode on the ground near them. If your launcher is located 55.0 m from the building (opposite side as the opposing team), what should your launch velocity be ((a) magnitude and (b) direction) to land a balloon 5.0 meters beyond the opposing team with maximum impact (i.e. maximum vertical speed)?
