Introduction:
White light is a combination of spectrum of seven colors namely, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. When this white light falls on the rain droplets (acts as prism), the white light splits into spectrum of light, and results in the formation of rainbow.
Consider white light passes through the lens of a projector.
The edge of the lens-edge behaves like a prism and disperses the white light falling on it into a spectrum of light.
As the white light passes through the edges of the lens, it splits into a spectrum of light.
This effect observed in the lens of the projector is known as chromatic aberration.
Hence, Chromatic Aberration is the effect which causes a fringe of rainbow-color commonly noticed at the edge of white light from a projector or slide.
