To Write: The common name for the elements which are located to the left of the stair step line on the periodic table
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
There are different types of elements in the periodic table like, metals, non-metals, and metalloids.
In periodic table, there is a zig-zag line which separates metals and non-metals. The elements which lie on this line are metalloids. The metals are placed on the left side of the diagonal line (left side in the table) and except hydrogen, non-metals are placed on the right of this diagonal line (right side in the table). They are called metalloids because they have some properties of both metals and non-metals.
Conclusion:
Thus, metals are located to the left of the stair step line on the periodic table.
