Amino acids classified as the building blocks of proteins. In the process of catabolism, the amino acid first undergoes deamination, followed by the removal of the carbon skeleton. The carbon skeletons are further degraded into any of the seven metabolite, shich are: acetyl CoA, acetoacetyl CoA, pyruvate, α-ketoglutarate, succinyl CoA, fumarate, or oxaloacetic acid (OAA).
