Chapter 14.4, Problem 1RIA
Summary Introduction
The bacterial cells can also regulate the process of transcription termination in addition to the regulation of transcription initiation. In such type of regulation, the transcription is initiated but stopped prematurely depending on the needs of the organisms and their environmental conditions. Attenuation is an example of this kind of regulation. It is a mechanism of reducing the trp operon expression when tryptophan levels are high. Rather than blocking the initiation of transcription, it prevents the completion of transcription.
