Interpretation:
A dynamic equilibrium is to be described.
Concept introduction:
The state where the forward and reverse reactions are occurring at same place is called as dynamic equilibrium. So, at this equilibrium, there is reaction occurring means there is no net change.
Answer to Problem 26A
Dynamic equilibrium occurred in closed system where the rate of evaporation of liquid is equal to its rate of condensation. It exists between liquid and gas phase in a closed container.
Explanation of Solution
When the small amount of liquid is taken into the closed container, some particles are converted from liquid to gas and move above the liquid surface, this process is known as evaporation. Similarly, due to the increase in vapor pressure the particles in the gas phase will move into the liquid phase, this process is known as condensation.
The rate of evaporation is same as the rate of condensation.
Dynamic equilibrium in which rate of condensation is equal to rate of evaporation. This can happen in closed container.
