Concept Introduction:

The pyruvate from glycolysis enters the citric acid cycle for the complete breakdown of glucose molecule which gets first catalyzed by acetyl CoA to produce citrate and then isocitrate which gets oxidized to 2- oxoglutarate which produces succinate through succinyl CoA. Finally, oxaloacetate is produced through malate which gets produced from fumarate or fumaric acid.
