The spinal cord consists of gray matter and white matter. The gray matter is comprised of neuronal cell bodies, short nonmyelinated neurons as well as neuroglia. It resembles the shape of letter H when its cross section is observed. The arms of this letter H are named as dorsal horns and ventral horns.
