Summary Introduction

To review:

The cross-section of the spinal cord and label the following structures: lateral funiculus of white matter, central canal, dorsal root ganglion, dorsal column tracts: fasciculus gracilis and fasciculus cuneatus, ventral corticospinal tract, and the lateral corticospinal tract.

Introduction:

The brain as well as the spinal cord are designated as the chief components of the central nervous system (CNS). The spinal cord is a mass of nerve cells that are housed inside the vertebral canal of the vertebral column. The vertebral canal extends from the base of the skull to the second lumbar vertebrae inferiorly.
