Chapter 13, Problem 13.26P
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The percent atom economy of the given substitution reaction is to be calculated.

Concept introduction:

Any reagents used for reaction synthesis can be hazardous when released into environment. Thus, the goal of green chemistry is to increase the efficiency of reactants and decrease the production of waste or by-products. The reaction efficiency with respect to the desired product can be determined by calculating the percent atom economy. Atom economy is a main idea of green chemistry. It is a widely used metrics for greenness measurement of the reaction process. The formula for percent atom economy is:

% Atom economy =Mass of atoms in the desired productMass of atoms in all reagents×100%

This is a synthesis question.  Why is this method wrong or worse than the "correct" method?  You could do it thiss way, couldn't you?
Try: Draw the best Lewis structure showing all non-bonding electrons and all formal charges if any: (CH3)3CCNO NCO- HN3 [CH3OH2]*
What are the major products of the following reaction? Draw all the major products. If there are no major products, then there is no reaction that will take place. Use wedge and dash bonds when necessary.
