Question
Chapter 12, Problem 75AP
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
An example of different approach to electric lighting that would not use a rate element like indium should be explained.
Concept Introduction:
Indium is a rare earth mineral. It is found with zinc minerals and iron, lead and copper ores. It is obtained as a by-product in zinc refining process.
Most of the indium is used in making indium tin oxide (ITO), an important part of touch screens and flat screens TV as well as solar panels.
This is due to its property of electrical conductivity. Other than that, indium nitride, phosphide and antimonite are used in transistors because they are semiconductors.
