Question
Chapter 12, Problem 20RE
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The reason behind the proofreading process in protein synthesis occurring during the amino acid activation step rather than at the codon–anticodon assignment is to be explained.
Concept introduction:
Proofreading refers to a mechanism for correcting errors in the translation process. It helps to make the protein synthesis mechanism more precise. The specific recognition of t-RNA with Aminoacyl-AMP complex is controlled by the enzyme t-RNA synthetase. Proofreading process is preferable during the amino acid activation rather than at codon-anticodon recognition.
