Introduction:

Fats are macronutrients that are composed of long carbon chains. The breakdown of these molecules provides energy necessary fora cell to function. Fats can be mono-unsaturated, poly-unsaturated, saturated fats, or trans fats. Out of these trans fats are the worst and are associated with heart diseases. Fats in high amounts can cause diseases, but they are important as they are a more efficient energy source.
