To review:

The energy generated from the oxidation of stearic acid and glucose.

Introduction:

For the generation of the energy, molecules such as glucose and fatty acids are oxidized. Glucose is processed, at first during glycolysis, where glucose is converted to pyruvate, and then the pyruvate enters the citric acid cycle from where the hydrogen generated earlier is oxidized to produce energy. In the case of fatty acids, they are metabolized via three steps, that are activation, transport into the mitochondrial matrix from the cytosol, and finally, β-oxidation.
