Introduction:

Propionyl CoA is a thioester compound of propionic acid, 3 carbon acid molecules, and a CoA. It is the end product of the catabolic reaction of threonine, methionine, isoleucine, valine, cholesterol, and fatty acids of the odd chain. Deficiency of propionyl CoA can cause propionic acidemia. This disease can be transmitted as an autosomal recessive disorder.
