Concept explainers
Interpretation:
The reason for chemistry to called central science needs to be explained.
Concept introduction:
Chemistry is one of the important branches of science. Science is the complete process by which one gets information and learns about the natural things and the whole universe by observingdifferent types of experiments and testing, and then introduce models that explain the observations.
Answer to Problem 2RQ
The other branches of science are interconnected with chemistry so it is called the central science.
Explanation of Solution
Science is divided into different fields. Basic components are the same so there is an overlap between different fields of science. Here are two examples of other branches, biology, and geology. Biologists and chemists work in both fields of chemistry and biology, and their work is called biochemistry. Similarly, the field consisting of both the studies of geology and chemistry is called geochemistry.
Chemistry is the common branch of science, which connects with other branches. The basic information about the matter is given by the atom. Structures of any organism or living or nonliving things are explained with the help of chemistry.
