Interpretation :
Five things that are wondered about in everyday life must be listed.
Concept Introduction :
There are many phenomena which are taking place in everyday life. Some of these can be explained from the concept of chemistry.
Answer to Problem 1A
Five wondering thing are listed below.
- Sugar vanishes when the mixture of sugar and water is stirred for sometimes.
- Sugar becomes black when heated on a frying pan.
- Camphor vanishes when kept in open air.
- Smell of perfume can be experienced from every corner of the room though it was opened in a particular place of the room.
- Green leaves of plants are converted to yellow.
Explanation of Solution
When sugar and water is stirred, sugar is vanished it dissolves in water and a homogeneous mixture is formed.
When sugar is heated on a frying pan, it becomes black as the water is removed from sucrose and black carbon is left.
Camphor sublimes in open air and thus it vanishes when kept in open air.
Gas diffuses very fast that’s why smell of perfume can be obtained from any corner of the room.
Coloring pigment of green leaves (chlorophyll) is converted to chromoplast and so the color change takes place.
