Electrophilic addition reaction is an addition reaction in which the double bond attacks an electrophile and the new addition of one or more groups across multiple bonds. In this reaction, C=C double bond breaks and a new single bond forms. In electrophilic addition reaction of alkene, the electrophile HBr is attached across C=C double bonds. The addition of hydrogen halide to alkene produces alkyl halide as a product.
