For North Carolina,

Substituting the values in the mean formula,

  $\overline{X}=\frac{731+228+201+270+101+230}{6}$

So,

  $\overline{X}=\frac{2064}{6}$

On solving,

  $\overline{X}=344$

Hence, Mean population of North Carolina is 344.

For Colorado,

Substituting the value in the mean formula,

  $\overline{X}=\frac{325+416+600+144+143+119}{6}$

So,

  $\overline{X}=\frac{1747}{6}$

On solving,

  $\overline{X}=291.16$

Mean population of Colorado is 291.16

On comparing the mean population of North Carolina and Colorado,

Mean population of North Carolina is greater than that of Colorado. Hence, on the basic of statistic North Carolina is more populated.
